SomeRiseSomeFall is an Irish-Americana music project of folk, rock and Irish traditional musicians. The project is the brainchild of Cork-based music lover Mick Fitzgerald, and honours such musical influences as The Grateful Dead, Ian Tyson, Allen Toussaint and Jorma Kaukonen. The music is essentially Americana with an Irish twist, and the debut album, 'Some Climb', features a host of respected musicians including Ger Wolfe, Annette Buckley, Hank Wedel and Edel Sullivan, with all tracks immaculately produced by Martin Leahy, who also plays on most of the tracks. With stunning photography and cover art from Harry Moore, the album 'Some Climb' features an intriguing collection of rare covers and a hauntingly beautiful instrumental piece by Edel Sullivan (specially commissioned for the project.)
The SomeRiseSomeFall project aims to produce recordings that reflect all facets of the human condition, and to inspire in the face of lifeʼs challenges, and everyone involved shares a profound belief in the transformative power of music.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH MUSIC
SomeRiseSomeFall, as well as being all about the music, is a project passionate about many social issues. The project's aim is to reach out via indigenous musical talent to highlight positive initiatives in two key areas:
- We also support & promote the work of The Next Step arts group in Cork.
* Social and community programmes to improve the daily lives of those stuck in the limbo existence of the Direct Provision system. (SRSF supports local initiatives in this area, including Better Together and Building Relationships in Justice), as well as campaigns to bring to an end this disgraceful system.
